African American muralist, teacher and great-grandmother Edythe Boone challenges inequality with her paintbrush. Following Edy for three years teaching public art to everyone from West Oakland middle schoolers to Richmond seniors, A New Color commemorates the great and tragic civil rights events of Edy’s time, most personally when her nephew becomes a national symbol of racist policing.
